The Challenge
The Charleston Renaissance Gallery came to us needing a dynamic, updatable web site, consistent with their established image as a provider of traditional American art, while at the same time being cutting edge in marketing their business on the web. The existing database of artwork used internally needed to be closely linked to the web site to easily update data and automatically mark sold pieces for removal. Because the inventory and information on each piece changed frequently, the Charleston Renaissance Gallery team needed a way to update their web site quickly and easily.
The Solution
Your Creative People worked with partner Gee Creative (which provided us with an amazing design concept) to build a fully-functional and deceptively simple web site. A robust filtering feature, which categorizes pieces by type of work (painting, sculpture, map, etc), styles and themes (southern modernism, landscapes, still life, etc), and artist biography enables visitors to quickly and easily find information, artists, art pieces, publications, and events. The site also enables users to perform specific keyword searches by artist, region, date, medium, or styles and themes. A rotating exhibitions section gives the public the ability to view art shows online as well as seeing them in the gallery. Because the internal database is connected to the web site it automatically updates with fresh information and new art pieces. The site also reflects any changes made to the information on existing pieces.

Content Management
To keep the web site up-to-date, the Charleston Renaissance Gallery team decided to go with Backstage as their content management system. With Backstage, nearly every area of the site is fully editable. Backstage made it easy for the staff to post new inventory from the internal database, and allows for complete control over content information posted on the site.
E-mail Marketing
To announce the new site to their contact list the Charleston Renaissance Gallery ran a marketing campaign using Your Creative People’s e-mail marketing service. The professional design and technological efficiencies enabled their first campaign to have above average results, directing 350 people to explore the new web site.
