Traditional, Yet Vibrant
The Challenge
Well-known for its sermon ministry and neighborhood outreach, Mount Calvary Baptist Church (Greenville, SC), under the current leadership of Pastor Mark Minnick, had a rich, long-standing heritage. Mount Calvary needed a way to communicate its mission to "take the word to the world" in a consistent, unified way, both in message and look and feel, in its outreach materials and web site.
The Solution
Several of YCP's staff attend Mount Calvary and jumped in to help and come alongside the current staff to create an outreach brochure as well as a simple, intuitive and vibrant web site. YCP was careful to maintain a traditional conservative feel, while adding to it a vibrant freshness to the face of the brand. The new web site is fresh with live content, real-life photos of the members, and features like portals for the pastoral staff and elders, the College and Career ministry, and members to be able to access pertinent materials and download sermons. Mount Calvary's site also features podcasting through iTunes and an easy-to-use online membership directory.
Empowering the staff
One of the main benefits YCP brought to the staff at Mount Calvary outside of their brand identity was in giving them the ability to update their web site completely on their own through Backstage. Previously, they relied upon the schedule and volunteered time of several individuals. Now, church secretaries and pastoral staff regularly update the website completely on their own.
All-encompassing
YCP brought an updated feel to the main church identity, then spread that new look and feel through all the church-wide materials such as guest cards, powerpoint templates, and the worship guide (church bulletin).
Furthering the mission to Take the Word to the World
Following the print and web site design, YCP was called upon to refresh the brand for other outreach ministries of the church such as the Whetstone conference for pastors, the church-wide Men's Ministry, a Preacher Boys class, two annual Youth group outreaches, and the Sunday morning Neighborhood class.
