Our History
In 1999, Justin Murphy, a recognized artist, and two partners decided to branch out into the business of graphic design and founded a small web and print design company, called America In Design. One of the company's first projects was an international website in 20 different languages. Soon after the site launched, it received international publicity and was advertised in major global newspapers. What began as a small partnership serving the legal and insurance fields gained the potential for major expansion.
Backstage Begins
As the needs of the company's clients grew, so grew the capabilities of the small firm. The most apparent need was for a web site content management system - a simple interface that allowed non-technical users to quickly and easily add content, change pages, and edit as needed. In response, the firm developed a simple content management system. That rudimentary program developed into a cutting edge content management and marketing system. Known since the beginning as "Backstage," it is one of the most valuable and sought-after tools that Your Creative People offers to clients.

Rebranding and Restructuring
In January 2000, America In Design became a sole proprietorship. Six years later, the company again went through a growth phase and became incorporated as a sub chapter S corporation. Shortly thereafter, America In Design recognized the need to rebrand itself to accurately communicate what the company had become, a branding company, and "Your Creative People" was born. The company secured office space, choosing Greenville, South Carolina as its new headquarters.
In less than a decade, Your Creative People had come a long way from its nascency as a Philadelphia sole-proprietorship. By 2008, Your Creative People was poised as a leading area design firm, featuring a team of talented designers, and wielding a powerful product. By the end of 2008, the firm had distinguished itself by customer service, continuing to post a stunning year-end profit in the worst years of the recession. Your Creative People was moving ahead and poised for new growth.
Back to Backstage: Evolving into a Consumer Product
Over the course of six years, Backstage was quietly evolving in its powerful technology and intuitive user interface. Your Creative People realized that Backstage was more than a Content Management System. It was a way to put the power of the web in the hands of non-technical people—from entrepreneurs to corporate marketing teams. As Backstage grew, so did its user base. In June 2007, Backstage transitioned to a subscription-based model, offering free live customer support, and free upgrades. From that point, Backstage became a distinctive product of Your Creative People, offering a simple, powerful, and revolutionary system for clients to do business. Backstage is sold exclusively by YCP and YCP resellers.
Your Creative People and the Next Generation
In 2007, the leadership of Your Creative People established a Junior Design Internship program. The internship was designed as a yearlong introduction to the world of business, branding, and design. Beginning in 2008, select college students became part of the team through YCP's valuable ten-week internship program. Recognizing his ability, talent and mentorship, Anderson University (Anderson, SC) selected Justin Murphy to serve as adjunct faculty, teaching on subjects such as branding and web design. Bob Jones University (Greenville, SC) also hosted YCP designers as guest lecturers for undergraduate, MBA, and doctoral programs, teaching on the subjects of branding and entrepreneurship.
